Chen Taijiquan 19 Movement Short Form
As the most recent addition to the Chen Taijiquan canon, the 19 Movement Short Form was created by Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang - the 19th generation Standard Bearer of Chen Style Taijiwquan. Based on overwhelming demand for a simplified form, Grandmaser Chen created the 19 Movement Short Form as the ideal introduction to Chen Taiji. Grandmaster Chen's choice of 19 fundamental techniques capture the essence of Chen boxing's three major styles - the Lao Jia, Xin Jia and Zhaobao versions. The routine requires less athletic vigor and contains techniques executed on both sides of the body for well rounded training. For the Taiji novice, the distilled technique of the 19 Movement Short Form is an assimilable introduction to the qualities of "silk reeling energy" and "fa jing", characteristic of Chen Taijiquan. Master Ren Guang-Yi is one of the premier students of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang. He has devoted his energies to the practice and teaching of classical Chen boxing throughout the United States and abroad.
