Chen Taijiquan Applications & Striking Techniques
Many practitioners of Taijiquan do not realize that it was created and is still practiced as a martial art - or if they do know this, they are not clear as to how Taijiquan "looks" when realized as a martial art. While Taijiquan is practiced today primarily for the improvement of health, its benefits are best achieved with a comprehensive understanding of its martial applicaiton. In this video, Master Ren Guang-Yi demonstrates the various martial techniques derived from the practice of Chen Style Taijiquan, with a particular emphasis on its expression of the "ba fa" or "eight methods" that formt he basis of martial practice as contained in the push-hands forms. With this sampling of the practical applications fo the taijiquan forms, the practitioner will be better positioned to understand the intricacies of this health-giving and powerful art. Master Ren Guang-Yi is one of the premier students of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang.
