i just read the book again it says it was a long spear techniques the guy taught the monks...

all they did was removed the tip to change it to a long staff....so maybe thats the reason

but if thats the reason then you should be able to use any lenght of pole/staff to do the samething... just makes it harder to control and to keep it in the center...

in one of the pictures it say something about being harder to keep in center...

im always trying to find the detail and lookfor it...

i just got that "traditional" 3 section today (moved up from the foam covered one), and it rocks!!! rings >>> ball bearings
