Assuming that you are a beginner or never had any experience in TCMA, I suggest that you start to learn a good basic set like Tan Tui. Because of your restriction in time, all you really need is to learn one set really well and practice it. In the past, there were many good fighters who just learn one good basic set and practice hard on that one set.

But you need to find a good teacher first.

but its not about how many or less you know. its about how natrually you apply it and do it wit out thinking about. everything should come out from the void when you really use it.....

if you got to think about what your going to do by then its over with. you do not have time to think just react to it.....

True...which comes out of consistent training and practice.

Working on the basic fundamentals of whatever you're wanting to achieve within whatever style you're wanting to learn is a good developental approach. Neglect the basics and you hinder the structure which supports the style/art/whatever.

It all depends on your short and long term goals of what you are wanting to be able to do.

Thanks

Okay, I'm going to sound like a fortune cookie but, I don't completely believe in Mastering anything. I understand the title and what it represents but I don't completely agree that anyone has mastered anything because if you continue on with your training, you are still learning and evolving, thus, always being a student of the art. But, none the less, I get what you are saying.

In any case, I would say train hard on the basic curriculum of whatever system you want to start in. Train dilegently for a while and then start moving upwards. If you do it by DVD, cool but an actual personal instructor would be more suited. I've seen people do both though.

Iron body or Iron Palm, again try and find an instructor. If not, contact Dale Dugas on here, from what I've heard from some brothers of mine he has some good training DVD's and his liniment supply is great. He'll be able to hook you up with some of the stuff you will be needing.

Hope that helps,

You will never master these skills but will keep learning from them.

do not get hung up on the word master.

also these things are hard, hence we work at them over a long time.

I do not watch tv much but rather train more.

Or if I am watching a movie with my wife Im always training something. Using my captains of crush grippers or my imtugs or my copper hitter or my purpleheart stick.

Im always using my time to train.

You need to train daily if you want to really use these skills if needed.

This few hours of training a week will not cut it.

If you are serious you will make the sacrifices.

I have no social life as my martial arts training is my social life.

In school training...sit with your feet and knees touching, preferablly with your back off of the chairback but O.K. if you are back that far.

Under the desk for desk chairs, open and close your fist--a chin-na training.

Press-down on your desk with your open hand for a sustained press to improve the force of your push and you can develop pecs lats, shoulder and shoulder blade area musclesby varying how far your elbow is, out in front of your body...it might seem as though you were lifting you out of your chair by one arm (and with the elboe back far enough, one hand)

Stick one leg out in front of you and pull the ball-of-the-foot up (flexthe ankle) fora stretch. gentle gets you flexibility increase. Hard gets you an obligation or your muscles will reverse pull an shorten-making that leg tight unless you like practice many times daily for months or a year or so.

raipizo,

Train for Northern style but cramped for time...Seven star preying mantis has a twwelve word something or other and there's a book with more techniques. But the idea would be to get a set of techniques like the Seven-Star Praying Mantis Style Twelve Word formula then practice the hand ones at least when you wake-up, and befor you go to school (three to ten times or for ten seconds to a minute). Then before you start your homework. When you are done with your homework, and before you go to sleep.

But fist I thought of fists on hips, feet together. Lift one foot then put it back then lift the other foot and put it back, this counts as one. The practice is to count to two hundred morning and night. for months if you could. But my exercising tends to take forty minutes whens I sporadically did it. Keep good posture when kicking-you are lifting your foot, not bending your back. From a you are in control postre you are lifting your foot-knee locked (my say).
