Shaolin Princess, on your previous thought, it is my understanding Disney is working on a live action kung fu movie called "Snow and the Seven" due sometime in 2006?! It is based on the very idea you propose, a Snow White character and seven monks!

Maybe your theme park idea isn't too far out of this world, after all, they recently opened Hong Kong Disneyland! Imagine...

"Shaolin Disneyland seeks dedicated Hung Gar practicioner to perform Gung Gee as Tigger. Must also be willing to demonstrate shadowless kick to the groin on Pluto up to three times daily. Please apply within."

Shaolin Princess, you're brilliant. I want to work at the Disney Temple!

japanese martial arts has very few schools that have live-in-students...most are the traditional school...

is you look at my name thats what it means or says in japanese romanji.... i did it for 7months but not for hung fu....

talk about plans to open a school...mine is close to what your all talking about... i want to open a martial arts university that teachs not just chinese martial arts... i want the school to be a place of higher learning of true martial arts the way it should be before it dies out...with live-in-students i hope...

just to let you all know being a live-in-student is not easy...its a different way of thinking and living...its fun if you love what your doing...most people will not last for more then a month do to how hard it is....plus you never seem full. like your always hungry for food....

Kung fu theme park and Wah Lum in FL

Postby brazilusa on Thu Apr 10, 2008 7:01 am

Has anyone ever been to the China based theme park in Florida? It closed down after I planned a big trip there.

I applied and was going to go to the Florida Wah Lum live in temple but I joined the military instead. Back then....quite a few years. It was $800 per month.

I live pretty close to the Wah Lum live-in temple, and I have to say it is pretty amazing looking. It has a nice red and yellow wall surrounding it, with a traditional gate. From what I've seen of the inside of the gate, the building is built in the traditional styled temple. It even has a small garden and and what looks to be a small pond. They practice Mantis style if I'm not mistaken. If I had the money and time, I'd certainly be going there.

I also applied to be in a live in program, it was on the east coast. It was for Karate. I was told I was one student too late. Someone lived closer and could start before me.

my school has a spare room for visiting students, who come from out of state, sometimes overseas. We have shower facilities and a kitchen as well.
I always had this idea to open up a temple. The front would be the temple where services and meditation sessions were held, and the "back room," which would actually make up the majority of the space, would be the training hall.
You know how PBS would give you a free tote bag or umbrella with your donation? Well, with a "monthly donation" of $150.00 you become a member of the temple and get free Kung-Fu lessons. It is tax deductable as well. Sounds good, right?
Yeah. I'd probably end up in jail or something....

Jon,

You can find great Baguazhang here.

Rick Krausman is my Sihing in Jiulong Baguazhang and he like myself also studied with Master Gene Chicoine.

Both of us are now certified instructors under Dr. John Painter.
