Kaoshou Fanziquan: A Boxing Done with Cuffed Hands
By Wen Jingming Hundreds of years ago, there was a wushu master in Heibei province, China, who was jailed because he killed someone in knight-errantry. During his imprisonment, he continued practicing his style of Cuibafan boxing. But with handcuffs and fetters on, it was impossible for him to do the movements. He had to make a change of it, hence the Kaoshou Fanziquan (Fanziquan boxing with cuffed hands). Kaoshu Fanziquan has 64 forms done in eight sections and each of them includes one or several techniques. Most movements of the boxing are short and small, striking out close-range and quick. The legs raise low and there are no high leaps. As a branch of Fanziquan, this boxing not only possesses the general character of the school but also its own unique features. 174 pages, 5.5x8
