The Northern Mantis systems are famous for their direct and effective techniques, which some say were derived from watching the movements of the praying mantis.  Tai chi praying mantis is unique in that it incorporates the circular movements of tai chi chuan, using the strategy of turning the opponent's movements and energy against him.  This style is famous for its seizing and locking techniques, and its arsenal of high and powerful kicks.
